What I have been working on, my inspiration, and more
Hello Reader! Things are slowing down after a busy April and I wanted to share a few things that I have been working on lately. First, I have been working on a gift for my grandma. It’s a painting of my great-grandparents on their 50th wedding anniversary. When I first saw a photo of them and the hot air balloon, I knew I wanted to capture it in a painting. My great-grandmother passed away in January and my great grandfather passed in 2018. I miss them dearly and since I was unable to attend my great-grandmother’s funeral, I wanted this painting to happen this year. Here is a picture!

Second, I wanted to give you a glimpse of one of my models!
Her name is Indy (Indiana Jones) and she is a 4 year old bearded dragon. She is featured in my work, entitled Basking.

Third, I wanted to talk about two artist heroes of mine. Mary Whyte is a fantastic world-renowned watercolorist. Her crisp, realistic subjects contrast beautifully with a washy background. She focuses on portraiture and scenes of Americans and their occupations. Here are two examples of her work.

Another artist hero of mine is Robert Bateman. He is a wildlife artist who works in oils and acrylic. His realism and use of atmosphere is create depth are both wonderful aspects to behold. He is still painting in his 90’s! Here are some examples of his work.

I hope you enjoyed seeing some of my inspiration! My next newsletter will highlight my pyrography inspiration, so stay tuned!
Third, I wanted to tell you about some featured work for sale!
